Paradise on Earth

When some imagine the Caribbean, they think of the islands in the west. But eastern and southern Caribbean is home to some of the world’s most beautiful islands, all of which boast breathtaking beaches, crystal clear waters and the whitest sands.

Tropical beaches with coral rich waters, friendly locals and cheeky green monkeys characterise blissful Barbados. The calm shores in the west and south make for a relaxing and cultural escape, while the wave lashed sandstone cliffs of the north and windblown east are a scenic haven for photographers and surfers.

Vibrant Bridgetown buzzes with life as Bajan locals squeeze onto jampacked buses and enraptured visitors leisurely wander amidst celebrated sights. Just a short walk from the harbour are the bright buildings of Pelican Village Craft Centre where handmade apparel, rum infused goodies and island-inspired artwork await.

Elsewhere on the island you’ll find exotic botanical gardens, the intriguing Harrison’s Cave system, renowned cricket grounds and informative museums. Plus, for a true taste of the island, enjoy a tour of the Mount Gay Rum Distillery or discover the homegrown secret to delectable Agapey chocolate.

With its white sand beaches, glimmering blue sea and laidback locals, Antigua is quintessential Caribbean. But this beautiful island has far more to offer with a wealth of history and culture just waiting to be discovered on your cruise.

One of the jewels in the island’s crown is Nelson’s Dockyard. Nestled in a 15-square mile national park, the historic harbour was developed as base for the British Navy and acted as the headquarters of the Leeward Island’s fleet in the late eighteenth century.

For vistas that are guaranteed to take your breath away, visit Shirley Heights. One of the best vantage points on the island, you’ll overlook the English and Falmouth harbours, with views reaching as far as Guadeloupe and Montserrat.

Sandwiched between the North Atlantic Ocean and the Caribbean Sea are the exquisite Virgin Islands. Sixty of the more easterly islands make up the British Virgin Islands (BVI), a British overseas territory while over fifty minor islands make up the US Virgin Islands (USVI), a US overseas territory.
